Our Vacation Policies and Privacy Policy

The purchase of any travel services offered by Costa Rica Surfing Company, (hereinafter “CRSC”) constitutes a contractual arrangement between you and CRSC, and represents your acceptance of the Globus Terms & Conditions set out herein. Please ensure that you read carefully and understand these Terms & Conditions prior to booking. You are advised to check this site or request the latest version of the Terms & Conditions from CRSC prior to booking your vacation.

Deposits And Payments – A non-refundable, non-transferable deposit of 50 percent of the total price of the vacation selected is required for CRSC to reserve vacation dates for you. Your booking is not confirmed until the deposit is received by CRSC and you receive a confirmation. CRSC accepts Pay Pal, direct bank wire, Visa, MasterCard and American Express. Your payment is not deemed made until it is received by CRSC. All deposits are required at the time of booking to hold or to confirm dates for you. Please review and verify your booking confirmation thoroughly and contact CRSC immediately if your booking confirmation appears to be incorrect or incomplete, as it may not be possible to make changes later. CRSC cannot accept responsibility if we are not notified of inaccuracies within 5 days of a booking.

Final payment is due no later than 60 days prior to commencement of services. Payment of the deposit indicates you have read and accepted these Terms and Conditions. If final payment is not received by the due date, your reservation will be canceled and your full deposit, including any additional payments, will be retained by CRSC. CRSC is not responsible for canceled air reservations in the event payment is not received by the final payment date. Payment in full is required within 5 days of booking for reservations made within 60 days of arrival.

Refunds And Cancellations – No refunds will be given for any reason. No exceptions are made to our cancellation policy for any reason. No partial refunds or credits will be given for unused services such as surf lessons and activities. Our trips are quoted as a vacation package; credits are not given for services not used. If you are concerned about deposit and vacation payment loss due to a trip cancellation, purchase travel insurance to protect you if such a situation arises.

Travel Insurance – Insurance is not mandatory, however it is suggested that all vacation participants obtain travel insurance that includes Emergency Medical Assistance while travelling with the CRSC and this insurance should cover personal injury, medical expenses, repatriation expenses, and evacuation expenses. It is also strongly recommended the coverage be extended to include cancellation, curtailment, and all other expenses that might arise as a result of loss, damage, injury, delay or inconvenience issues. You acknowledge that the cost of the vacation does not include insurance, and that all participants are will have to obtain travel insurance coverage at their own cost.

Why should I obtain travel insurance with medical coverage? You are traveling to a foreign country that although has adequate medical facilities, those facilities are centrally located and in case of a serious medical emergency will require medical evacuation services for transportation. Without proper travel insurance protecting all vacation participants, the necessary care and treatment for any and all medical emergencies may not be available.

Personal Property – CRSC shall have no liability for loss, theft of or damage to baggage or personal effects. Personal belongings lost or stolen while unattended by a vacation participant in public lounges or other public areas, whether on board an airplane, vessel, or other mode of transportation, publicly owned or operated by CRSC or elsewhere, are not reimbursable. Losses due to ordinary wear and tear, and other acts of God are not reimbursable. CRSC cannot accept responsibility for and in no event shall be liable for loss or damage of valuables or other articles left in or on facilities used by CRSC such as private homes, vessels, expedition vehicles, or any other mode of transportation.

Property Damage – Any damage to your accommodations, surfboards and equipment, or any other property of CRSC that you are using while on vacation is the responsibility of the vacationer. All damages must be paid for and satisfied before the end of your vacation time.

Air Arrangements – CRSC is not responsible if an airline cancels, reschedules, or delays a flight for any reason. If you miss your departure flight, it is your responsibility to work with the airline on which you are ticketed to reach your destination. CRSC is not responsible for any additional expenses you may incur prior to arriving to your vacation destination. CRSC is not responsible for and will not provide any refund for portions of trips missed due to canceled, rescheduled, or delayed flights. If you make your own flight arrangements, CRSC will not be responsible for any loss resulting from cancellation or changes in international gateways or travel dates. We recommend that you do not purchase airline tickets with high penalty charges for changes. Airfare to Costa Rica and/or airfare for connecting flights in Costa Rica are not included in the vacation package and are the sole responsibility of the traveler. CRSC offers pick-up and drop-off services from Liberia and San Jose airports.

Special Needs Travelers – You must report any disability requiring special attention to CRSC at the time the reservation is made. CRSC will make reasonable attempts to accommodate the special needs of disabled travelers, but is not responsible in the event it is unable to do so nor responsible for any denial of services by air carriers, restaurants, tour operators, or other independent suppliers. CRSC cannot provide individual assistance to a vacation participant for walking, dining, getting on and off vehicles, or other personal needs. A qualified and physically able companion must accompany travelers who need such assistance and must assume full responsibility for their well being. Not all sightseeing stops/sites accommodate wheelchairs and some locations and sightseeing activities require extensive standing, sitting or walking. CRSC is not responsible for any missed activities due to a participant’s inability to participate with the group. The Americans with Disabilities Act is only applicable within the United States and facilities for disabled individuals are limited outside its borders. Your private transportation does not come equipped with chair ramps.

Young Travelers – Travelers who are under 18 years old on the departure date must be accompanied by an adult throughout the vacation. Certain tour activities can not accommodate children under the age of 7. CRSC is not responsible for any missed activities due to participant’s age prohibiting them from participating with the group. For any requirements regarding airline tickets for children, contact your airline directly.

Price Policy – All vacation prices are based on rates known at the time of publication, and do not include airfare, or any other expense not listed as included in a package. Vacation prices are per person. Prices are subject to increase without notice, subject to the guarantees set forth below. Once CRSC has received your full deposit for any vacation, that vacation price is guaranteed and you are protected against any price increase due to currency surcharge. Any subsequent cost increases are at CRSCs’ expense, not including energy cost increases and/or any government tax increases.

Travel Documentation – You are responsible for obtaining and paying for all visas and entry documents, for meeting all health and other requirements, and for any documents required by the laws, regulations, orders, and/or requirements of Costa Rica. Non-U.S. citizens must consult with appropriate consulates to determine if any visas are needed and are responsible for obtaining all visas and entry documents independently. CRSC is not responsible for providing you with specific visa and passport information or documentation, and CRSC cannot accept liability for any passenger refused entry due to failure of the passenger to carry correct documentation. All passengers traveling internationally are required to have a passport. Costa Rica requires that the passport be valid for at least six (6) months beyond the conclusion of your trip. It is your responsibility to verify all visa and passport requirements. The process of obtaining a visa and/or passport can take several months.

Accommodations – The accommodations listed on the Web site are intended to be used on all vacations; however, if a change becomes necessary for any reason, the accommodations substituted will be equivalent to those shown.

Rental Vehicles – A rental vehicle is not included in the vacation package. A chauffeured vehicle to Liberia Airport is included and arrangements to be driven to optional destinations can be arranged at an additional charge. If you would like to have your own rental vehicle during your vacation, CRSC can help arrange it for you. All rental vehicle expenses are sole responsibility of the renter.

Holidays – During local or national holidays or special events, on Sundays, and religious occasions, certain facilities such as museums, churches, restaurants, sightseeing tours, and shopping may be limited or not available. Alternatives will be offered whenever possible. CRSC cannot be held responsible for any closures or curtails for any reason.

Waiver Of Liability – Please be aware that during your participation in vacations operated by CRSC, certain risks and dangers may arise beyond our control, including but not limited to: the hazards of traveling in undeveloped areas; travel by boat, automobile, aircraft, or other means of transportation; forces of nature; political unrest; acts of lawlessness or terrorism; and accident or illness in remote regions without means of rapid evacuation or medical facilities. CRSC will not have liability regarding provision of medical care or the adequacy of any care that may be rendered. While CRSC will use its best efforts to ensure the adequate measures are taken, by agreeing to participate in a vacation, tour and/or optional excursions you agree that you will hold CRSC harmless regarding any provision of medical care or the adequacy of care rendered.

The vacation participant agrees that neither CRSC nor its affiliates shall be liable for any damage, loss (including personal injury, death, and property loss), or expense occasioned by any act or omission of any supplier providing services, any insurer or insurance administrator, or any other person. Any dispute between the vacation participant and CRSC directly or indirectly relating to the Terms & Conditions shall be first submitted to mediation at San Jose, Costa Rica, before a mediator mutually agreed to by the parties. If mediation is not successful, the dispute must be resolved by binding arbitration under Costa Rica law before the Judicial Arbiter Group or its successor. The prevailing party shall be entitled to an award of costs and reasonable attorneys’ fees. Any action to enforce the arbitrator’s decision shall be brought in the courts of Costa Rica. Arbitration against CRSC must be commenced within one year following the date of vacation completion. Neither CRSC nor any affiliate shall in any case be liable for other than compensatory damages, and you hereby waive any right to punitive damages.

Liability and Indemnity – Except in relation to our contractual obligations to supply goods following acceptance of vacations booked on our website, neither we nor any of our directors, employees, suppliers or other representatives will be liable in contract, tort, negligence or otherwise for any loss or damage whatsoever in any way connected with your use of CRSC services. You agree fully to indemnify us, our directors, employees, suppliers or other representatives from and against all liabilities against all claims, liability, damages, losses, costs and expenses, including reasonable legal fees, arising out of any breach of the conditions by you or any other liabilities arising out of your use of CRSC services.
